Privacy Policy

HappensNext ("we," "our," or "us") is built with your privacy as a priority. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it goes, and what choices you have.
1. Data We Do Not Collect
We do not operate any servers that receive your personal data. We do not collect, store, or have access to:
- Your name, email address, or contact information
- Your tasks, notes, projects, or any content you enter in the app
- Usage analytics, crash logs, or behavioral data
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
2. iCloud Sync
HappensNext uses Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) to sync your data across your own Apple devices. Your content is stored in your private iCloud account and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to this data.
3. Anthropic API Key (AI Note Capture)
The AI Note Capture feature is optional. If you choose to use it, you provide your own Anthropic API key in Settings. This key is stored locally on your device using iOS's UserDefaults storage and syncs to your private iCloud account along with your other app settings.
When you use the AI Note Capture feature, the text of your note is sent directly from your device to Anthropic's API servers for processing. This transmission is governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your notes or API key.
You can delete your API key at any time from the Settings screen within the app.
4. Microphone and Speech Recognition
If you use the voice dictation feature, the app uses iOS's built-in Speech Recognition framework (SFSpeechRecognizer). Audio is processed by Apple's speech recognition servers, subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. The app requests microphone and speech recognition permissions only when you initiate dictation, and you may revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
5. Data Export
The Export feature creates a plain text file of your projects and items on your device. You control where this file is shared. We have no access to exported files.
6. Children's Privacy
HappensNext is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
